Denis Walter OAM
As Denis Walter closes in on 56 years in media/ entertainment, he is still at the top of his game.
The early years focused on music and earned him multiple gold records along with Command Performances and countless television appearances.
Having always had two other passions in news and radio Denis spent almost 16 years as the face of television news in regional Victoria along with work on Nine News Melbourne.
Around 1989 the opportunity came to fulfill his other career passion on radio which was an immediate success. Today Denis is proudly a part of 3AW having hosted Afternoons for 11 years and since 2020 Melbourne Nights between 8pm and midnight.
In 2016 Denis was honoured with an Order of Australia Medal and signed with Sony Music for the release of a new album Yesterday Once More.
In 2022 the Tony Charlton award for public service was awarded to Denis and in 2025 as part of the Victoria Day Awards, he was awarded the inaugural Star Of Victoria award for his contribution to public life. Denis continues to be Patron or Ambassador for around a dozen charitable organisations and community groups including Vision Australia, Neuroscience Foundation, Pat Cronin Foundation Dementia Australia, the Clarence Valley Orchestra and the MG Car Club Of Geelong.
The Denis Walter career still has a long way to go.
