Art for the Heart Exhibition Keeps Giving
On a cold winter’s day in Melbourne recently, I joined the board of The Compassionate Friends Victoria in front of 173 Canterbury Road, Canterbury to view the building set to become TCFV’s new home.
There is some refurbishment still to be done to the building but a fantastic new era is about to begin for the charity that does so much work to support bereaved Victorians. What a privilege it was to be part of that new beginning by delivering the cheque for $1694 being the proceeds from more than 40 works sold at Tobin Brothers Funerals ’ Art for the Heart Exhibition.
“There is much work to be done here and the cheque from Art for the Heart could not have come at a better time. We are so grateful for this support.” said CEO John Sedundary.
As coordinator of Art for the Heart. I was entranced by the works exhibited the grand Queens Hall; so moved by the stories, so thrilled to see the art table surrounded by people talking and making things just for the fun of it but what an uplifting and humbling experience to finish it all by passing on much needed funds for a special charity like The Compassionate Friends.
We have people who come back every year to the exhibition and as one visitor said, “I come to enjoy the works, stories and experience of this unique exhibition and I’m always able to take away with me a beautiful work at that supports a good cause at the same time."
The cycle of love, loss, grief and then love again just keeps on turning and Art for the Heart is proud to be able to play a pivotal role in that that in action.
Again a big thank you to the contributors and the purchasers. Your generosity all helps to make this such a special event.
